How to Automate Your Lead Generation Process

by Dec 3, 2018Services

Cold leads are terrible.  When I first started out in web design I had an amazing idea.  I went through our door mail coupons and pulled up the website for each and every business.  I then gave each website a letter grade and made notes on what they could improve upon.  I then took it a step further and found examples of OTHER website in the same niche that were mobile-optimized, clean, and well designed.

The Cold Lead Generation Email Process

I used the above process for about a month.  Any guesses how it worked out? It was terrible. It was pitiful. It was a colossal waste of time and energy.  I would have been better off spending my time learning how to play rummikub. At last count I spent around 15 hours and sent well over a hundred, personalized emails.  I got ONE response and it said, “Thank You”.  I certainly knew going into the venture that people did not want to know their website was bad.  I naively thought that adding a personalized touch and showing their competitors would make a difference and improve my leads.  News flash: it didn’t!

Automated Lead Generation

Shortly after my failure, a good friend of mine who runs a review collection website told me about a program that he had used to help automate the process called Dux Soup. Dux Soup is incredibly powerful. It utilizes LinkedIn to help you easily find professionals that YOU WANT TO TARGET.  You simply set your search criteria and let it run in the background.

How I Use Dux Soup for Leads

Although I work with a variety of individuals and businesses, my bread and butter is medical website development with a focus on search engine optimization. I wanted an inexpensive, yet effective, way to reach out to doctors to give them a little taste of what I do and how I can help them improve their current setup.  Take a look at the video and you’ll see how to utilize this great program to automate the lead generation process!
